Specifically in training, Danette Johnston uses a reward-based, positive reinforcement method of training and does not use any punishment methods or traditional leash corrections.

Danette Johnston

Owner/Trainer - Danette is Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of WA as well as a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (www.ccpdt.org). She has been training (dogs and people!) working in animal hospitals and shelters for the past 12 years, owning and operating dog's day out for the past seven years. Danette has done extensive individual study in canine behavior and has participated in training programs by such behavior luminaries as Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell and Trish King among others.

Heather Archibald

Day Care - Heather is a Licensed Massage Therapist with specialty certification in large and small animal massage. In addition to working at dog's day out, she does therapeutic body work for horses through her own business, Equine Balance, as well as warm water swim therapy and massage for dogs. Heather has been working with animals in shelters and animal hospitals for over 10 years and has extensive field experience in dog behavior. She cohabitates with Pablo, a very silly tan and white pit bull.

Erica Wells

Day Care Coordinator, Training - Erica came to us from New Orleans 2 years ago with her black Labrador, Jaxx. She has since added to her family a new husband and brown spaniel named Sal. Erica spends her life in the daycare but also finds time to run our puppy playgroup, teach Agility, help out with walks and Difficult Dog class and spend time with her family!

Ellen Leach

Day Care Floater Behavior specialist - Ellen Leach has worked with animals professionally for more than 20 years. A zookeeper for most of that time, Ellen also runs her own behavioral consulting business. Her focus is on teaching private individuals, zoos, and other groups the many benefits of positive reinforcement training. She has applied her training techniques to the domestic feline (after years of training elephants, she thought she was finally ready for the challenge!). Ellen is immersing herself in dog behavior at dog's day out as part of her continuing education in animal behavior. Ellen has a degree in psychology, with a special emphasis in animal learning. Ellen lives with three very happy cats-- Emma, Ernie and Orange Julius.

Andrea Murphy

Dog Walker, Training Intern, Massage Therapist - After receiving her LMP in January of 2007 she went to the Northwest School of Animal Massage to receive her animal massage endorsement.Andrea lives in the Carkeek Park area with her husband Ken, and the cutest dog in the world- Gypsy, her 12 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier.She also runs her own massage business - check out: www.thatsthespot.massagetherapy.com
