Taste & Health

is a nutrition education project taking place in community sites such as family centers, after school programs, ECEAP preschools and parent meetings. Audiences watch and participate in a food demonstration, learn healthy cooking tips and taste freshly prepared foods. Participants receive written materials highlighting a nutrition message as well as recipes that feature easy to prepare, inexpensive and appetizing dishes. All Taste & Health recipes include ideas on how children can help with food preparation.

Mission: Delicious

is an elementary school-based program developed in collaboration with Seattle Public Schools, Neighborhood House and the Share Our Strength program. SNAC staff and school district personnel work with students to teach food preparation skills and to promote healthful eating. The Mission: Delicious curriculum includes classroom-based and take-home elements to reinforce nutrition messages.

You're the Cook!

is a middle school-based program in the Seattle Public Schools that targets 11 to 13 year olds. SNAC staff presents a lively series of three lessons in health classrooms with nutrition, food-safety, and kitchen-safety components. Class members help with cooking demonstrations. Students prepare healthy recipes for their own families as part of the curriculum.

Nutrition Gardening

SNAC's garden-enhanced nutrition education program is a partnership between the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhood’s Cultivating Communities, the Seattle Housing Authority and Seattle Public Schools. Youth enjoy growing and eating produce they have grown themselves, while learning about nutrition.
