Movements focus on control, precision and breath in order to develop muscles uniformly and to elongate the spine. All exercises originate from the abdominal muscles, allowing for freedom and ease of movement in the rest of the body. Once the body's center is stabilized, more complicated movements in various planes of motion are added. Concentrating on accurate movements eliminates the need for mindless repetitions. With high ceilings and natural light, Pilates on 10th is a warm, inviting space. A quiet atmosphere provides the setting for focused, personalized attention. In 2001, she sustained a back injury, and discovered Pilates as a method of healing and pain management, as well as improving her overall strength and confidence in her body
