Danila Rumold (Seattle, WA)

As an educator in the arts I put practice before theory. I can do so, because I know the historical and theoretical positions that have been taken and that are of interest today. Hence, I find it my responsibility to not only act on a philosophical and theoretical level, but on quite a concrete level as well. My first focus lies in bridging an understanding of materials, from aesthetic concerns to pragmatic, commercial choices. By giving students knowledge about the tools with which they work, they learn of the tool's intrinsic values and historical uses. In addition, they are able to make safe health and environmentally conscious choices, as well as economic decisions for their contemporary use. ... http://www.danilarumold.com/teaching
