Bottom line: San Francisco Sport & Spine's billing practices are disorganized and unethical, and I learned this the hard way. You can find many similar stories on Yelp. SFSS assured me on my second visit, that they contacted my insurance and that I was covered for PT. I offered to pay co-pays at the office but was told they only had a "cash box" and I'd be better off waiting for the bill. The first I heard of my account status was from my insurance EOB's, denying coverage due to failure to pre-certify. I contacted Sport & Spine immediately and was assured by Duane Harris, Kim Parker and Nicole Haas that S&S would take care of certification and that I would not have to pay. Several months later I received my first bill from S&S saying "insurance pending, $0 owed." I contacted S&S immediately, and was again ASSURED I had nothing to worry about. Several months later I got another round of EOB's denying coverage, and a phone call from Kim Parker, who said it would take some time to resolve, but that they would definitely figure it out and take care of it. I did not hear from them again for several more months, when they billed me for the entire amount and it was too late to appeal through insurance. S&S sent my entire bill to a collections agency. I obtained Sport and Spine billing notes and they are a mess: misdated, long spans of time without any efforts made to resolve my case, and even acknowledge a screw up on their end. I even wrote personally to Sport & Spine owner Sturdy McKee, explaining my situation and pleading for resolution. I heard absolutely nothing in response from him. I would not recommend supporting a business that gives false information on insurance coverage, and then continues to assure their client that they are resolving their mistake, when they are not. They are disorganized and not trustworthy.
