Chris Jacobson, GardenArt Group Landscape Design (San Francisco, CA)

Our philosophy of garden design is that, no matter how formal or informal, gardens should connect people with the real world of earth, water, seasons and change. After more than thirty years of gardening in California, Chris brings a unique blend of adventurous design sensibility with nuts and bolts practically to the design table. Be they formal outdoor rooms or natural open spaces, a GardenArt project is an expression of a dynamic conceptual process that celebrates both the client and the site.

Landscape Masters Plans

We can customize our approach to match your budget and specific needs. In most cases, master plan contract fees are based upon a percentage of the projected costs of construction, and range from 8 to 10%, depending upon the size and complexity of the project. Our master plan package typically includes the following documents:
1. An existing conditions / demo sheet
2. A hardscape layout
3. A complete planting plan
4. An irrigation and lighting concept sheet
5. A specified number of hours of drafting time for elevations and construction details.

Consultations

Scheduling a paid design consultation. During this meeting, we will evaluate the pros and cons of your site and the current state of your landscape. We will create a concept sketch for your new garden based on the wish list you have given us. (It helps to have a plot plan available.) There is a two-hour minimum fee for this service. The resulting sketch is yours to keep as a record of our meeting, and may also serve as the inspiration for a complete master plan.

Other Services

1. General site analysis and preliminary site planning
2. Solicitation and coordination of related services such as land surveys, soils analysis, preparation of site plans, etc.
3. Recommendations to all related service organizations as necessary from artists to ironworkers to swimming pool installers.
4. Consultation of all aspects of project installation, including solicitation of contractor bids.
