Did you know that there is more to a business card then the design? How you present your business card to potential clients can have a major effect on whether or not they contact you in the future. Here a list of NO NOs that you should know.
#1: Don’t print your business cards at home. Professionalism is key. If you have the proper equipment to print and cut your cards at home then you can. But if you don’t steer clear of this option. Pay the extra bucks for a professional to do it for you.
#2: Don’t be hasty! Don’t be in a rush to give your card to someone. Introduce yourself first. Let the business topic come up as the conversation flows. Then you can offer your business card. Let the other person ask for it first. They will if you have given them enough information about the company and they believe they can benefit from it. You can always ask if you can leave your card with them before parting.
#3: Cluttered card! A clean look is always best. Too many designs or words can make it hard for someone to read your card, and important details may be missed. Keep it simple yet stylish.
#4: Not enough information! Your card should have more than one form of contact. Whether it’s a phone number, address, fax, email, or web address. The most important information would be your phone number. People still like to have a live person to speak to.
#5: Not too Big: Oversized business cards are nice for show, not for wallets. Make sure your business card is the standard business size. It can be square, rounded, foiled, matte, glossy, just not OVERSIZED!
These are just a few tips that we believe can help you have a more pleasant experience when meeting new people. Follow these tips and who knows, you just might get a callback!
