During the last several years I have tutored students of different ages, backgrounds and levels of proficiency. I have a B.A. In Arabic from University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. In Middle East history from the University of Chicago. My experience includes teaching first and second year Arabic at Loyola University and Truman College.
My husband and I usually teach together. He is an educated native speaker and knows a great deal about Arabic dialects. We use standard texts like Al Kitab or EMSA. These systems cover reading, writing and speaking and are widely used in high school courses as well as university Arabic programs. We have also developed customized courses.
