I see the price in the New York area as being between $500 and $700. I have even seen up to $1000. No wedding ceremony is just about turning up to officiate. There are meetings and counselling with the bridal couple, and if it is an intermarriage plans to be made with the co-officiating clergy. There is often travel time too, as many weddings are held at catering establishments that are not local.
Belonging to a church or synagogue will probably mean that there is no charge for the clergy officiation, but then it is customary to donate to the clergy person's discretionary fund or give them a check for the service.
At our wedding, our pastor performed a simple service, asking for a church donation of $200.00. Our services help a couple find common ground in their differing beliefs ( if any ), and through meetings, we draft an original wedding script. Our rate is $350.00 here in the Norfolk / Virginia Beach area. No hidden extras unless there is travel involved.
It depends on the wedding style, length, distance for travel, etc. this also includes meetings w/ bride and groom, free access to email all thru the process, counseling if desired, designing and writing ceremony including cultural , faith and personal options. This is a complicated and FUN Process. From SIMPLE elopement at $195- $325 FOR A PERSONALLY DESIGNED CEREMONY. I AM in the BUFFALO NY area.
